When I was undergoing chemo, I saw the tutorial for this piece. (Actually for a piece about half this size) and I wanted it so badly, but money was low and energy lower. By the time I was well enough, the tutorial was no longer available. For years I searched for the tutorial. A few months ago, the designer of the tutorial, put it back up for a limited time. I ordered it immediately. Then I learned something about myself. I can no more blindly follow a jewelry tutorial than I can a recipe. It reminds me of the time a friend came over for a spontaneous meal. After dinner she asked for the recipe, I looked at her blankly and said, “I got the recipe from you!” Apparently over the years I had made countless ingredient changes, despite the fact that in my mind it was “that” recipe, the outcome must have been unrecognizable. If you are familiar with the Nicole Hanna tutorial that inspired this piece, you can see the influence, but alas guess I just have to follow my drummer. That is why it is called “Dragonfly Drumbeat”. I couldn’t stop myself from tweaking it into the vision that spoke to my heart.
